The Revolutionary War
The Revolutionary War started in Lexington, Massachusetts. The British were living in the same town as the Americans, and a street fight occured. A British soldier staying in Lexington, no one has identified who yet, fired their gun and killed an American. That was the first shot fired in the Revolutionary War. The war was so huge it lasted for about 8 years, between the British and Americans. George Washington, the first president, led the troops to battle. -
Declaration of Independence
This important document declared that the 13 colonies were free and independent from Britian. That means that after the Presidents signed the Declaration of Independence, they were free from British control. This was also the beginning of the goverment and new United States of America. The declaration stated that 'all US citizens are politically independent'. Another famous statement in the Declaration is 'every individual has a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness'. -
Louisiana Purchase
On December 20, 1803, the US bought the Louisiana Territory. The Louisiana Territory surrounded or covered part of 15 different states. The US bought the territory from the French to 'rid of' French in the US. This purchase not only made the French leave, it doubled the size of the country. They bought the mass amout of land for $15 million dollars, although that was pretty cheap, per square mile. This big buy made more room for citizens to move westward and more room for homes and crops. -

The Civil War
The Civil War officially started on April 12, 1861. The cause of this war was because of slavery-some states thought slavery should stay, while other states thought slavery should be rid of the land. Some called this war 'the war between the states.' The war ended on April 9, 1865. -
Assassination of Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln, president at the time, was killed by John Wilkes Booth, while watching the play Our American Cousin. He died early the next morning. On the Easter Sunday after Lincoln's death, everyone from North and South of the country, mourned for their felled leader. The whole country was devastated at the news. This was the first assassination of a president in the US. This caused everyone to fell scared and confused. Everyone in America mourned for their felled leader. -
Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty was dedicated and given to the US by Frederic Bartholdi. The Statue of Liberty turned green because of the element it was made of (Copper or Wrought Iron). This large statue resembles not only peace, but also liberty and freedom. Some people in New York called it a Beacon of Hope. It sparked independence in the hearts of every American. To immigrants moving into the US it was a sign of new possibilities and resembled their new home. -

The Great Depression
Just when electricity, cars, and other new items came out, there was a mass produce, causing money to go down. Let's just say banks weren't the greatest then. In the Great Plains States, it was worse because there was a huge drought, causing crops and other produce to die away. Families had to move to find jobs that payed. Many companies had to shut down because of the ecenomic enviroment. The horrible depression ended on December 7, 1941. -
The Bombing of Pearl Harbor
The bombing of Pearl Harbor, sometimes called the attck on Pearl Harbor, was a surprise of the Japanese on- well, Pearl Harbor. The reason of the Japanese mission was to prevent the US Pacific Fleet from interfering with the Empire of Japan. That's because the Empire was plannaing against the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and, most importantly to us, against the United States. A more specific name for the fleet that bombed Pearl Harbor is the Imperial Japanese Navy. -
Assassination of JFK
John F. Kennedy with his wife Jacqueline, were traveling down Dealey Plaza in his Presidential car. Passing Houston Street, and on to Elm Street. When all the sudden from the School Book Depository, Lee Harvey Oswald shot three fatal bullets to JFK. Just as Lee finished firing, Jack Ruby- killed him before he could have a trial. After the goverment took a poll thhat showed 80% of US citizens think that there is a coverup, or that wasn't all that happened. -
9/11
On September 11, 2001, a group of 16 to-be hijackers boarded 4 diiferent planes. On September 11, 2001, the groups of hijackers-well, hijacked the planes, along with the passengers. One of the planes flew to New York and chrashed the plane into one of the two Twin Towers. The next plane arrived a couple minutes later, and crashed into the second tower, causing debri and dust fall onto New York. Police, fire fighters, and Emergency vans come to the scene. It was a devastating to all Americans.
