  • United States gains Independence

    The United States Fought the Revolutionary war againt Great Britan. Several battles were fought but eventually on July 4 1776 the United Kingdom surrendered to the 13 colonies.If not for this event we would still be part of The United Kingdom.
  • Louisiana Purchase

    France sold America 828,000 square miles of land which is now 15 different states. France sold the land to the U.S at a price of $15,000,000 less than 3 cents per acre!Today that land costs $211,000,000.This is an important event in U.S history because it makes up 1/3 of the U.S.
  • Civil War

    The Civil war started April 12 1861.During the civil war the United statees split into two groups, the South and the North or the Union and Confederacy.The south supported slavery because they had many farms and without their slaves it eould be hard to manage their farmlands.But the North opposed of slavery, they believed that all humans should be treated equally.This war lasted four years but finally the South gave in and surrendered.Slavery was abolished.

    World War 1 was started by Germany with alliances of Austria and Hungary on July 28 1914.WW1 was a war that included all of the worlds superpowers and was centered in Europe.This was an important event in U.S history because so many U.S troops sacrificed their lives to protect Eurpe from dictatorship.

    The Great Depresion was a worldwide econiomic low that originated in the U.S.On October 29 1929 the stock market crashed,this was known as Black Tuesday.The Great Depresion effected both the rich and the poor,profits and prices dropped and the unemployment rate in the U.S grew to 25 percent.This event is important because many people lost their jobs and were not able to feed themselves.

    Japanese planes flew over Pearl Harbor dropping bombs on the ships on the battleships in the harbor,This was a devastating attack in which 2,400 Americans lost their lives.This was an important date in U.S history because it marked the entry of the United States into WW2.

    9/11 was a terrorist atack that was from a terrorist group called the Al-Qaeda.On that day 19 terrorists boarded planes,shortly after take of they hijacked the planes and started driving them.The terrorists crashed the planes into various locations such as the Pentagon and both the Twin Towers but in one of the the planes the passengers fought back and and the plane crashed into an empty field in Pensylvania.People believe that the fourth plane was aimed for the White House.

    Osama Bin Laden was killed in Abbottabad, Pakistan by Navy Seals.The raid was based in Afganistan so once the seals had the body they took it back to Afganistan for examining.U.S forces then buried the body at sea.This is an important event in U.S history because a very dangerous person is dead and the world is a safer place without him.

    Barrack Obama was elected the 44th and first African American president of the U.S on January,2009.This a significant event in U.S history because in the past African Americans where treated as slaves but now an African American is the president of the United States.
