The first telepone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell. He invented an invention that transmitts voices elelctrically. This was called the telephone. -

Alexander attempted to improve the telegraph which was a "wire-based electric system."and instead created the first telephone. Which could transmitt various messages at one time. This was a revolution. He also beat his competetor Elisha Grey by a few hours. -

The first pay phone was installed in "Hartford, Connecticut". A phone where you put coins in in order to make a phone call. This impacted the society because people were able to call some one when they made a stop, anywhere there was a pay phone. -

A lot of people were having three way ocnversations, which was made possible by "phantom circuits". The phantom circuits allowed people to have three conversations at one time, and it would all happen throught two wires. -

The first call that was made from New York to London
The first transatlantic call was made from New York all the way to London. These types of calls were now operational. The call was made by using radio waves. -
Electronic telephones
People were doing reaserch into making an electronic telephone. The idea was finally perfect in the 60's all because of the "electronic switching system". -

The Conneticut State Police started using two way frequencies (FM). -

Cell phone services by D.H. Ring at Bell lab but they didnt have that type of technology durning the 1940's. -
The international communications satellite
The first ever international communications satellite was launched. The satellite was called Telstar. This allowed people to make international phone calls for example: from Colorado to Italy. -
The first Cell phone call
Martin Cooper who worked for Moterola made the first call to his competertor Joe Engel who worked at the AT and T bell labs -
Japan launches the first network
Japan launched the first cell phone network. -
Fiber optic cables
Fiber optic cables allowed people to carry a larger volume of calls than the satellite or microwe waves werer able to do. -
Cell phones
Cellular phone were made during the 1980's and the 1990's. The cell phone has a central transmiter that allows the cell phone to recieve transmissions as they come in and come out of the cell phone. -
Texting
Text messeging was invented by a Finnish engineer Matti Makkonen in 1995. Text messeging has improved society in a way because texting is faster than calling someone, but it is deubutable. -
Iphone 4
The iphone 4 is a new version of the iphone which will be released in April 2011. These phones will allow the user to use the internet while they are talking on the phone. It will also allow the user to see the person that they are talking to, but only if that other person has the Iphone 4 as well. In a way the Iphone 4 coulld improve that person's life be that for whaterver reason the user uses that device, but this topic is debateble.
