    Anything Goes, makes its debut on broadway and has since been revived several times.
    "Anything Goes," "You're the Top," and "I Get a Kick Out of You." These are all songs written into the show itself. It was written by Cole Porter.

    "Swing" music starts becoming popular (from 1935 onward). It gradually replaces the sweet form of Jazz that had been popular for the first half of the decade.

    Spanish Civil War occured. Germany and Italy back anti-communist nationalist forces of Francisco Franco. The Soviet Union backs the left-wing replican faction in the war. The was ends in April 1939 with Franco's nationalist forces defeating the republican forces.

    Just before the military coup in May 1936 two small groups of anarchist women from Madrid and Barcelona merged to form the Mujeres Libres (free women) organisation. Many were killed on the front line in the battle for Madrid. There were changes in work, leisure and attitudes towards women.
