D-Day is the day that 160,000 Allies landed on the beaches of Normandy, France to fight Nazi Germany. The invasion was the largest assault ever launched. Five army divisions, 7,000 ships, and 11,000 aircrafts were involved. The Allies triumphed and continued on across Europe. -

FDR and Truman
Franklin D. Roosevelt was the 32nd President of the United States. He was President from 1882-1945. He led the US through world war and economic crisis. He worked with Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin in leading the Allies. FDR became ill and died on April 12, 1945, leaving President Harry Truman in charge. -

When Adolf Hitler was 56 he committed suicide along with his new wife, but long time mistress. After the bodies were found, they were burned in their home. -
The first atomic bomb dropped on Japan
President Truman warned the people of Japan. He gave them an ultimatum of July 26, but they didn't listen. They dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and 3 days later, another one on Nagasaki. -
