    Britain and France, along with a few Commonwealth countries, declared war on Germany, in response to Germany invading Poland.
  • Germany's Invasion

    Germany invaded France, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Belgium. The Netherlands and Belgium were overrun in a few weeks.
  • The Prime Minister is replaced.

    The British were discontented in the Norwegian Campaign, which lead to the Prime Minster Neville Chamberlaine being replaced. He was succeeded by Winston Churchill.
  • Attack on Pearl Harbor

    This was a surprise attack on a US Navy base. It was meant as a preventive strike to keep America from interfering with the war efforts. The Imperial Japanese Navy sent fighters, bombers, and torpedo planes to destroy the base. This attack would be a major factor in the American joining the war.
  • Atomic Bombing of Japan

    America utilized the atomic bomb on the Japanses cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Thousands of people were killed in this attack, but it was seen as an end to the war. It is debated whether or not there was a necessity to use nuclear force to eradicate this country country, however one point brought up is that the alternative for nuking would have been land invasion, where millions of people would have died, instead of the actual thousands.
