Flies
The first animals in space were fruit flies, along with rye and cotton seeds. They did this to see if animals can live in space. I couldn't find an exact date, I just know it was in the 1940s. -
Albert
Albert, the rhusus macaque was the first primate in space. Even before humans! He left on June 14, 1949. That's exactally 50 years before Sean was born. They sent Albert into space to see if mammals could survive in space. Unfortunately, Albert died in a crash landing on Earth. -
Yuri Gagarin
Yuri Gagarin was born on March 9, 1934 in Klushino, Russia. He was the first person in space in the history of the world. He even had a town renamed after him. -
Neil Armstrong
Neil Armstrong was born on August 5, 1930 in Wapakoneta, Ohio.He worked fo NASA, was the first American in on the moon and rode on the Gemini 8 on September 20, 1965. -
Buzz Aldrin
Buzz Aldrin was born on January 20, 1930 in Glen Ridge, New Jersey. He was the secind man on the moon. He was the piolet of Gemini 12. He went into space on July 20, 1969. -
James Lovell
James Lovell was born on March 25, 1928 in Cleaveland, Ohio. He later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He commanded the Apollo 13 on April 13, 1970. Coincidence ? -
Alan Shepard
Alan Shepard was born on Nov. 18, 1923in Derry, NH. He is the oldest person to join NASA. He was the pilet of Apollo 14. Hee was also the firdt person to golf on the moon. -
Sally Ride
Dr. Sally Ride was born on May 26, 1951 in Los Angeles, California. She went into space on June 18, 1983 and became the first woman in space. She is now in charge of NASA's office of exploration. -
Marc Garneau
Marc Garneau was born on February 23, 1949 in Qubec City, Quebec. He went to school in London, England. He went into space on October 3-15, 1984 anad he was the first Canadian in space
