  • The Dutch-Portuguese War

    The Dutch and Portuguese go to war because the Dutch wanted to conquer Portugal with the help of England. It didn't go so well for both countries but they each came out with somewhat positive outcomes. The Dutch won Portuguese and the Portuguese won some new countries in England. In the end they made an agreement with each other.
  • Queen Elizabeth's Death

    Queen Elizabeth became queen after her sister died and reined for over 40 years. After Queen Elizabeth died James VI became King of England, Ireland, and Scotland. Scotland got joined with England and was ruled by a King which meant Scotland was no longer independent.
  • First Refracting Telescope

    Hans Lippershey was a German-Dutch inventor. He invented the first ever refracting telescope. The refracting telescope collects light and can also form an image when looking through it Lippershey made it so people could see far.
  • "King James Bible" is published

    The "King James Bible" is the English translation of the Bible that became very popular in the English Church. The bible was translated for people in England and America to read the bible and understand it, it also became a big hit because many people read the bible.

    The Thirty Year's War

    The Thirty Year's War involved European countries and Germany. The war was mainly about religion and rivalries. Many people died in this war. It turned into one of the most bloodiest wars ever in history.
  • First Africans in the North American Colonies

    The first ever African Americans arrived in Jamestown, Virginia. They were brought by the Dutch. The Dutch brought slaves to America for their plantation colonies. Then later on, slaves were all over America working in plantations.
  • The Test Act

    The Test Act didn't let people outside of the Church of England run for public office. They wanted certain people to run for English and those people were the ones that joined the Church of England. If people outside of the Church of England wanted to run for public office they couldn't due to the Test Act. The Test Act was based on religious purposes.
  • The Glorious Bloodless Revolution

    The Glorious Bloodless Revolution involved King James II, his daughter Mary, ad her husband William. Mary and William overthrew Kind James due to religion. The Revolution was bloodless because no one got killed instead King James was overthrown and left the country.
  • Queen Mary's Death

    Queen Mary dies from small pox quite young. Mary was only 32 years old when she died. After she died her husband had to run England alone because she didn't have any children. Since she didn't have any children she didn't have anyone to pass her reign to after she died.
  • The First Steam Engine

    The first ever steam engine was created by an inventor named Thomas Savery. It became famous in mining, factories, and steamboats. The steam engine heated water and drove the water back and fourth that made the machine work.
