    This war was between the British colonies in America and New France, and it fought for control of the American continent.
  • Pontiac's Rebellion

    Pontiac's Rebellion
    In 1763, Pontiac's Rebellion was begun by a group of American Indian Tribes who were displeased with the British polices. It about a year later, and led to numerous peace negotiations.
  • British Parliament Passes Sugar Act

    This act imposed taxes on sugar and molasses and it was now to be strictly enforced, and the colonists were not happy about it.
  • Boston Massacre Occurs

    The colonists were very angry from the raising taxes, so they gathered around British soldiers and threatened to start throwing stones which resulted in the soldiers shooting and killing a few people.
  • British Parliament Passes Tea Act

    This Act didn’t create any new taxes on tea but it gave complete monopoly over the tea trade in America to the British East India Company.
  • Boston Tea Party

    In 1773 the Boston Tea Party occurred when the Sons of Liberty, an organization formed to protest the unjust taxes, boarded British ships carrying tea and dumping it off the side of the boat into the ocean in order to protest.

    The First Continental Congress takes place, a meeting of the delegates, in 1774.
  • Revolutionary War Begins

    The Revolutionary War began in April of 1775, and was initiated by the delegates from the 13 colonies against Britain and its overbearing policies and taxes.
  • Declaration of Independence Adopted by Second Continental Congress

    In 1776 the Continental Congress published the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia, intending to form a new, free nation.
  • Treaty of Paris Ends the Revolutionary War

    After their surrender at Yorktown, the British recognized that they could no longer win the war. So instead they pursued peace. This led to the Treaty of Paris which was signed in 1783.
  • US Constitution is Composed

    This Constitution consisted of the rules and guidelines the new country would run by.

    These 10 amendments gave different guidelines that could also be followed along with the constitution.
  • Whiskey Rebellion

    Following the American Revolution, many US states had debt, and so the federal government imposed a whiskey tax. This resulted in protests and finally military involvement to end the widespread protests.
