  • 1783-treaty of augusta

    a portion of lower creeks signed the treaty of augusta ceding creek lands between the ogeechee & oconee rivers to georgia. georgia legislative began creation of counties in the ceded lands oficial cession of land did not occur until the treaty of new york in 1790.[georgia info]
  • 1790-religious camp's

    in the 1790's the spread of religion started many religious groups created places of worship and by the late 1830's methodist established schools for girls and boys and so did many others. the more religious grew in numbers. the more their education for their followers. so many religious groups settled down in georgia and ove the few decades georgia population grew was known as the "empire state of the south" [georgia info]
  • 1795-Yazoo Land Fraud

    government sold land illegally to four companies that land speculators had made. they started to try to by the land as early as 1789 but the efforts began in 1794, so that they could make a profit off of the land.[georgia info]
  • 1829-dahlonega gold rush

    people rushed to get gold and forced natives off while they were moving into towns to try to get gold. lumpkin county's court house was just a log cabin i the gold rush town of Auraria. in 1836 they built a 2 story courthouse [georgia info]
  • 1830-indian removal act

    indian removal act was were the creek and cherokee got kicked off there land. george gilmar created the act that claimed all of cherokee territories for georgia and sold it in a land lottery . that made the boundaries of georgia [georgia info]
  • 1832-worcester v. georgia

    court case determining that the natives were their own nation and did not have to listen to state laws but did have to for u.s. laws. even though the cherokees had not ceded their land to georgia, a land lottery was held in the state capital of milledgeville to distribute land and develop it [georgia info]
  • 1832-railroad

    the rail road was first created because of poor road conditions making it hard to transport anything by road so they created railroads. these railroads made georgia into what it is now by creating some places that we may call home or even are capital.[georgia info]
  • 1838-trail of tears

    they planned 13 detachments that involved 1000 cherokees each o be escorted west by mounted us soldiers. a detachment of 3000 indians got delayed till oct 1,1838 and the main of the cherokee assembled for final council meeting which slowed progress. [georgia info]
