invention of the cotton gin 1793
The cotton gin was invented by Eli Whitney in 1793 to separate cotton fibers from cotton seeds. the cotton gin not only icreased the amount of agriculture in georgia it also increased slaves. -
Yazoo land fraud 1795
The yazoo land fraud was a scheme in which Georgia legislatures were bribed by land companies to sell most of the land we know as Mississippi. Most Georgians were outraged and caused most of the legislature to flee the state. -
UGA opened 1801
Abraham Baldwin wrote the charter that created the uga in 1783 and in 1801 it has opened up for school. Josiah Meigs graduated at Yale and taught the first uga classes. -
Land lottery 1805
The state of georgia conducted land lotteries to sell land gained from the natives. After the final land lottery was conducted in 1833 the state of G.A had no more land to sell.
