Election of 1884
Republican James Blaine ran against the Democrat Grover Cleveland. Cleveland won the election. This was the first time a Democrat had won the election since 1856. -
Election of 1888
Grover Cleveland ran again for President but lost to Benjamin Harrison. Harrison won in the electoral college vote, but actually lost the popular vote. This had only happened one time before this. -
Election of 1892
Interesting election when Grover Cleveland tried again for Presidency and won. This was the first time in history that a former President had once again been elected. -
Election of 1896
The Republican candidate was William McKinley and he beat William Jennings Bryan. It was an easy victory for McKinley. -
Spanish-American War
The United States declared war against Spain after they sunk the Battleship Maine. The Treaty of Paris ended this war.
