    The Battle of Ypres was progress and decline, it was delcine because the canadian army had 6035 casutiltes. The algerine line broke, the germans used chlorine gas. IT was progress because the candians then lauched a courter attack that forced the germans out of the canadian trenches.
  • Somme

    Somme
    This battle was already underway for 2 months with the british fitting the germans. Canada came in with there 2nd and 3rd division, they launched an attack using the creaping barrage. The british had tryed this tactic before but had 57,450 caustiltes in one day.
  • Vimy Ridge

    Vimy Ridge
    Vimy Ridge was progress for the canadian miltary. People had said that this was where Canada had come as age as a nation. the Canadians took the ridge in two days. This was Canada's biggest win of the war, with all the training, recon, technical and tatical innovation.
  • Passchendale

    this battle was progress because it was the final major battle of WW1 for Canada.This advance was to destory the german submarine bases. The British, Austrillian, and New Zealand foces were fighting four months before Canada joined. On Octomber 30, Canada joined in the advance. The battle ended on november 10, 1917.

    The Election of 1917 was progress and decline. It was progress because of the Wartimes Elections act and also the miltary voters act. The miltary voters act allowed soilders overseas to vote, The Wartimes Elections act allowed female reletives of soilders to vote for conscrition. The 1917 fedarl election was decline because Prime minister borden passed these act to win him consertion, this allowed him to then send every male overseas. He step over the line of human rights.

    This was a protest from the workers, saying to their empolyers that we need better pay, hours, and working conditions. It turned out to be alot worse then a protest. The RCMP was called in, they decided to charge on hourse back into a crowd and hit them with clubs, they then went for another pass this time they pulled out their guns and fired into the crowd.

    This was progress and decline. The progressive part of the treaty was that it had ended the war. The promblem with the treaty was that the Big Three told germany it had to pay for everything that was destoryed in the war. They also said they could to keep any counties under there rule, They were also told not to ecceed 100,000 men in there miltary. The germanys got the bad part of the deal when it wasen't even them how started the war.

    The 1920's was very big for Canada. In 1919 An italian inventor of the frist wireless radio, Guglielmo Marconi set up the frist commercial radio station in Montreal. There was 85 small radio stations in Canada in 1929. Cars started to become bigger in the 1920's with Ford having a mass production of cars. Cars became a status symbol. In 1924 the RCAF was created, in 1927 the Minister of Transportion, decide to make an airline that was run by the Canadian goverment.

    This was progress for Canada because Nellie McClung, Louise McKinney, Henrietta Edwards, Irene Parlby, and Judge Murphy nicknamed "The Famous Five" asked does the word "Persons" include female "Persons". In April of 1928 the Supreme Court of Canada Decided that women were not "persons" qualifed for appointment to the Canadian Senate. The Famous Five then went and took their case to the Privy Council in England. The Priviry Council decided that the word "persons" referred to men and women.
