This occured during President Harding's term in office. Albert B Fall, secretary of the interior, illegally sold navy petroleum to the Teapot Dome at low rates. -

This occured when high school teacher John Scopes broke the laws regarding the teaching of evolution. These laws were enabled by the Butler Act in Tennesee. -
Charles Lindbergh Crosses the Atlantic
Charles Lindbergh became the first pilot to successfully cross the Atlantic Ocean, starting in America, and landing in France. This feat had been tried many times, but never completed until this point. -
Sacco and Vanzetti Trial
Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti were two Italian anarchists who were charged with two accounts of murder during an armed robbery. The two were soon executed, which has caused controversy even to this day. -
The Jazz Singer
The Jazz Singer became the first moving film to feature speech and organized dialogue. It showed the immense posibilites that the movie making industry would present in the future. -

This was the first animated movie created in the US. It was written by Walt Disney and starred Mickey Mouse. -
Herbert Hoover Elected President
Herbert Hoover won the presidency in the 1929 election. He was officially inaugurated on March 4th. -
Stock Market Crash of 1929
The first stock market crash occured when the American economic system itself crashed. This marked the beginning of the 12 year Great Despression.
