    Cotton Gin
    It made production of cotton more profitable. The south became a cotton ¨kingdom¨. More labor was needed for cotton gin. This made slaves more common.
  • Election of 1800

    Election of 1800
    Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went against each other. Jefferson defeated Adams and tied his running mate Aron Bur.
    Thomas Jefferson was the victor in the end.
  • The Louisianna Purchase

    The Louisianna Purchase
    French leader Napolean had abondoned his dreams of being an owner of an American Empire. He needed more money to fight European wars, so he accepted Jeffersons offer of $15,000,000. It doubled the size of our country.

    War of 1812
    The cause was British impressment. They were seizing Americans at sea and drafting them into their Navy. This really made the U.S mad and caused war.
  • Burning The Whitehouse

    In 1814 the British burnt the White house. Dolly Madison saved most of the stuff in the White house. She saved most of the pictures and documents. The burning of the White House resulted in the war of 1814.
  • The Missouri Compromise

    The Missouri Compromise
    Settlers in Missouri applied for statehood. Northerners and Southerners disagreed on whether Missouri should be admitted as a ¨free¨ state. Henry Clay organized a compromise in which Missouri would be a slave state but Maine would be free.
  • Indian Removal Act

    Congress passed the Indian Removal Act. Under this law, the federal government funded treaties that forced tribes west. The Cherokee Tribe in Georgia refused to abide by the court decision. Trail of Tears then happened.
  • The Monroe Doctrine

    In the early 19th century, various European countries hinted at increased colonization. In James Monroe's 1823 address to congress. Monroe made it clear to Europe. He did not want to interfere with them.
