  • Battle of Fort Sumter

    The Battle of Fort Sumter began April 12, 1861 and ended April 14, 1861. The battle orignally took place in Kentucky but then evacuated to Charlston Harbor, South Carolina. Fortunately there were no casulities in thr battle during the evacuation there was 1 man killed and one man wounded terribley. The most important leaders in this battle were Robert Anderson (Army Officer) from 1805-1871, Pierre Bearegard ( Confederate General) from 1818-1893. By the end the South won.

    The Impact of the war was started because when Lincoln became president he won all 8 states in the North but none in the South because the Southern people didnt want Lincoln to stop slavery as he promised.
  • The First Battle of Manassas

    The battle of Manassas was the first major battle of the Civil War. The Union Army consisted of 30,000 soldiers which was under command by General Irvin. Both sides traveled several miles to reach Bull Run Creek. General McDowell attacked before dawn on July 21st. Both sides fought hard on the morning of July 21st.
    Around 2,000 Confederate soldiers were killed during battle. General McDowell's army had nearly 3,000 casualties. The Confederacy won the battle from a comeback.
  • The battle of the USS Monitor and the CSS Virginia

    The battle of the Monitor and the Virginia took place at the Hampton Roads. The CSS virginia was an ironclad warshp that destroyed 2 union ships before the USS Virginia, another ironclad, designed by John Ericsson entered the battle. The two ships fought for several hours before the virginia was forced to retreat.
    This battle was the first ironclad ship battle in the civil war. John Ericssons superior design gave the union the upper hand in naval force.
  • The Battle of Shiloh by:Qadeera and Kaylin

    Shiloh was one of the most bloody wars. General Grant and General Buell and company brought their 40,000 troops to Mississippi to strike the Confederate in the deep South. They started marching on March 29 but the war was delayed. The Confederates attacked Grants forces at Shiloh on the mourning of April 6 1862 the Confederates ambushed Grant and the War began. There were 13,000 casualties for the Union but they still won. This lead to the Unions initail winning.

    On september 17,1862 two armies met at antietam Creek near Sharpsburg,Maryland. this was the bloodiest battle of the civil war. Confederacy offence has been shattered by the union, the north of the south. lincoln usedthe result to issue the emancipation proclamation trasforming the war into a crusade against slavery and preventing europes regonition. Lee marched north with 55,000men on 9/4/1862 by 9/7/62 there were only 10,500 union soldiers left.confederacy was never close to win

    On June 1st 1863 a part of the Civil war was in Gettysburg. Robert E. Lee led Virgina and fought for Confederacy with 65,000 soldiers and George G. Meade fought for the Union with 85,000 soldiers.It was a dangerous battle that lasted 3 days.
    The bloodiest battle of battle was in the peach Orchard. The war was won by the Union who had 23,049 deaths and the Confederates lost 28,063 people. This war ended Confederate hopes of European intervention.

    The battle of Vicksburg took place on June 4 in Vicksburg Mississpi. Led by General Ulysses S. Grant the Union troops invaded Vicksburg. Grant went around to West of Vicksburg, then crossed the Mississpi and his men lived off pf the land, finally Gen. Grant and his troops attacked Vicksburg from the East. Gen John Pumberton and general for the confederacy surrendered for the south, and an easy victory was won by the north. Nothing was mentioned aout how many peopl died.

    The battle of Shenandoah had actually been getting it's pressure since the year 1861 when Union army had been trying to evacuate confederate patriots because the Shenanadoah valley was the "bedrock of confederate activity". The trials of the army to evacuate the confederates proved abortive and they mostly failed. By the time the confederates realized ther was so much pressure from the union in Shenandoah, attention was divided up north. About 8,575 casualties.Union v

    Marvin & Fabris He intended to take his army of 60,000 men on a march of approximately two hundreds miles through enemy territory for several reasons. Also the confederate could not stop Sherman they were involving an attack on enemy economic asset as well psychological methods of intimidation and terror.Sherman entered Savannah, Georgia, on the Atlantic Ocean, in late December, and then turned his attention to the Carolinas.

    Jakobe and Qerron This battle was an important battle at the end of the civil war. It occured in Virginia It ended in General Robert E. Lee's surrender. There were 620,000 deaths and even more were badly injured. General Ulyssess S. Grant was the Union general in this battle. General Grant led the Union to a victory. The battle was only a day long. Ten days later Abraham Lincoln was assassinated.
