Cause- Need to combine together into a civil body politic by the people that sailed over on the Mayflower
Effect- Became the first document of self-government in North America. -

Cause- Royal Charter granted by wealthy puritans
Effect- rights to settle trfade and govern the territory between the Merrimack and Charles rivers. -
Indentured Servants
Cause- people wanted to get to North America but coulnt afford it
Effect- wealthy people would pay for people to come over but they had to work for them as servants for a set period of time -
Roger Williams
Cuase- came to New England to take up duties for a congregation in Salem
Effect- argued that colonists had no right to indian land but must bargain for it in good faith. -
Harvard and Yale
Cause- Need for education in North America
Effect-Harvard is the only institution of higher education till 1693. Quakers built Yale in 1701 because they believed Harvard was too liberal. -

Cause- Roger Williams felt that forced worship was wrong

Cause- Appointed to King because of the execution of the okd king.

Cause- Violent raids on the colonies by Indians.
Effect- Nathaniel Bacon decided to murder the Indians for attacking the colonies. -

Cause- Indians unhappiness with settlers taking over their territory and harming their way of life.

Cause- need of structure for the British colonial system.
Effect- defined the colonies as suppliers of material for English manufactured goods, also structured British colonies. -
