  • U. S. capital is moved *

    The capital is moved from Philadelphia to Washington, D.C.This happened in 1800. This captal was moved to honor George Washington during his presidency. They also changed it because they wanted a place where they could govern the nation. They decided to move it because of these reasons.

  • Lousiana Purchase*

    This is when US bought Lousiana, which was a large territory that is now part of US. They bought this territory for 15 million or more. There wasn't really a conflict over this land since they just sold it like it was nothing, like of piece of gum. This land is and was the best and easiest for US to get.

  • War of 1812*

    It was a war fought between the United States and Great Britain.This war began because of territory that wanted to be claimed by. Those territories included along the Canadian border, in the Chesapeake Bay region, and along the Gulf of Mexico; extensive action also took place at sea. This war ended in the Treaty of Ghent in 1815.

    This war was caused because of the annexation of Texas. This caused a conflict which created this war to win territory. Since US won, it got almost half of Mexico. Those included Californa, New Mexico, Texas, and more west of US. This War ended with the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo in 1848.

  • Civil War *

    It was a mayor battle fought by the Union Army and the Confederate Army.This battle was caused by states rights, tarriffs and the most important,slavery.Many people left the Union because of the election of Abraham Lincoln, in 1860. The president of the confederacy was Jefferson Davis.The Union did not believe in slavery, but the Confederates did. The confederates thought it was important to have slaves.The war ends in 1865, after General Lee surrenders his confederate Army to the Union.

    It was a conflict between Spain and USA that took place between April and August 1898, over the issues of the liberation of Cuba. This called for the annexation of Cuba, but Spain fought for it.At the end of the Treaty of Paris, US had control over Cuba, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Guam.
