Louisiana Purchase stands as the most significant event in the westward expansion of the United States.The Louisiana Purchase changed what the United States had been and was a huge part on what it is today. Napoleon had offered to sell all of Louisiana, Monroe had negotiated to pay 15 million for the land. They thought it was a small land but turned out to be a third of the united states today. 50,000 inhabitants, 28000 slaves and 10000 slaves living in New Orleans in Louisiana. -

A tie vote between Jefferson and Aaron Burr does not become known till the end of the month. If Aaron burr had been able to keep anger undercontrol, Aaron Burr might have become president. But since he hadn't he killed Alexander Hamilton. When the votes were in Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton were tied. Congress would vote to pick the winner.Alexander wrote mean things about Burr so he challenged him to a dual after losing the election the "restore" his reputation. Burr shot Alexander dead. -
War of 1812
The war of 1812 was fought between Great Britiain and North America. The war was mainly fought on the Atlantic Ocean, on the land, coast and waterways of North America. There were several causes of the war. One was impressment of United States citizens into the Royal Navy. Second the British military support for American Indians, in which were suffering, armed resistance to the expansion of the American frontier to the Northwest. There was really no clear winner of who won the war. -
Texas Declaration Of Independence
Delegates of Convention of 1836 wrote and ratified the Texas Declaration of Independence. Every thing was done overnight, literally. They chose five delegates to draft the document. The five delegates were George C. Childress, Edward Conrad, James Gaines, Bailey Hardeman, and Collin McKinney, made the declaration in record time. The document was briefly reviewed and adopted the next day. -

U.S.-Mexican War
On this day two neighbors went had-to-head in a war. The cause of this terrible event is because Mexico claimed the Texas territory. After two years of battling and murder the war came to an end in the year 1848. Mexico surrendered under the Treaty Of Guadalupe Hidalgo, in which the territory of Alta California and Santa Fe de Nuevo México were ceded to the United States. Since then the Rio Grande was the border of Texas and Mexico and they never claimed Texas was theirs ever again. -

Great Chicago Fire
This terrible faith lasted two days. The fire killed between 200-300 people in total and left 90,000 people homeless. About 17,500 buildings were completely destroyed. The damages caost over 200 million dollars ( 3 billion dollars in 2007 dollars ). The legend of the fire was that a cow knocked over a lantern in the O'Leary barn and made the fire. But others say that a human or comet was responsible for the tragic event. -

The Spanish–American War a brutal battle between Spain and the U.S. over the issues of the liberation of Cuba. The war started after American demanded resolution of the Cuban fight for independence, which were rejected by Spain. Expansionist in the U.S. motivated the government to come up with a plan for annexation Spains remaining overseas territory like Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Guam. The United States won victory over the Philippine Islands and Cuba. Treaty of Paris ended the war.
