Capital is moved to Washington D.C
In the year of 1800 the us capitol was moved from philadelphia to Washingtotn D.C. it was moved because they did not want an original state to have the capitol so they did not any type of influence over the federal government. the capitol had been moved from New York to Philadelphia to the new District of columbia. the first meeeting held in the new capitol was on november 27 of that year. the city was named after george wahington and since then that has been our permanent capitol. -
War of 1812
This war was fought between thte usa and great britain. This was when great britain tried to regain the us territory but they lost the war so the usa remained an independent country. It lasted from 1812- 1815. It ended exactly on march 23 1815. it was mainly fought over thte atlantic ocean and us territory. -
Capital is burned
The british burned the us capital during the war of 1812. Fortunetly a sudden rainstorm stopped the complete destruction of the capital. it is believed that the attack was a retaliation because of the looting of york. most of the building was destroyed except for the exterior walls but most of them had to be destroyed anyway because the walls were weakened by the fire and the exposure to the elements afterwards.a picture of george washington was rescued.the reconstruction was began in 1815. -
Missouri Compromise
Missouri was able to become a state as a free state and maine was admitted as a slave state. this compromise was reached so that there was an equal amount of slave states as there were free states. this was an event that helped forstall the inpending civil war.the compromised was guided by Henry Clay,known as 'the great compromiser'. thte law was ratified by president monroe on march 6,1820. -
Texas declares it's independence
Texas declared it's independence fromm mexico on october 2,1835. This was when thtey decided they no longer wanted to be under the mexican rule. Therefor they started there war to win their independence. the war started with the Battle of Gonzalez. the war ended in the battle of san jacinto on April 21,1836. -
civil war
the civil war was fought between the north states and south states. the war was fought because the states could not agree on various subjects, including tarrifs, land and slavery. the result of the war was thte end of slavery and the reconstruction.it was mainly fought over the southern states. the war ended when general lee surrendered in the appotamox courthouse on April 9,1865.
