    By gaining Independence from Spain in 1821, Mexico´s road to democracy started, so new forms of government did too. Agustin de Iturbide was declared emperor in 1821, but democracy was not so present in his government.

    -Juarez law: It erradicated the special power of the church and army
    -Lerdo law: It made church and civil organizations get rid of their lands by selling them.

    -Lafragua law: It allowed freedom of expression in printed media

    Most of the states of the Italian Peninsula are united under King Victor Emmanuel II of the Savoy dynasty, crowned King of Italy.
    With this, people could now live under a single rule, enjoying some benefits, but they were still under the rule of Austria

    Maximilian I of Habsburg got into México and established the Second Mexican Empire, this reflected in democracy because it didn´t allow people to vote and their rights were not totally respected.
