  • The 3rd Generation Ipod

    The third generation iPod has several hardware improvements compared to the earlier models, including a thinner, lighter, and slightly more rounded enclosure, a "dock" for quick-and-easy connection to a computer and audio out for connection to a stereo or powered speakers.

    The 1st Generation Ipod mini had 4 GB of memory. The abttery life was 8 Hrs. First generation iPod minis were available in five colors: silver, gold, pink, blue, and green

    It has a gray click/touch wheel and dock connector
    There was also a U2 - 20GB version in black with red wheel
    Available in 20 and 40GB hard drive sizes.

    Positioned as a premium version of the standard fourth-generation iPod, the iPod photo featured a 220x176 pixel LCD capable of displaying up to 65,536 colors. Held 30-60 GB of memory and had a battery life of 15 Hours.

    Available in black or white and used flash memory. Color screen for picture viewing. 1 GB version released later.

    Second full redesign with a slimmer case, and larger screen with video playback. Offered in black or white. Hardware and firmware updated with 60 GB model replaced with 80 GB model on 12 September 2006.

  • The 6th Generation Ipod

    In September 2008 the hardware and firmware was updated with a 120 GB model replacing the 80 GB model and the 160 GB model was discontinued. In September 2009 the 120GB model was replaced with a 160GB model.
