President McKinley shot
President McKinley was shot twice in Buffalo New York by Leon Czolgosz at the Pan-American Exposition. His death led to the secret service permanently protecting the president. He died of his wounds on September 14, 1901 after appearing o be recovering for a few days. -
Earthquake!!!
A massive earthquake struck, one that could be felt from Los Angeles, was centered in San Francisco. The earthquake and the fire it spawned destroyed at least 50% of the city before being stopped. The San Francisco Mint escaped damage from the earthquake and became a refuge center. -

President Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas by Lee Harvey Oswald. -
Robert Kennedy Assassinated
Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy was shot and killed by Sirhan Sirhan in Los Angeles, California. Kennedy’s death led to United States Secret Service protection for presidential candidates, beginning the next day. -
