    Boston Massacre
    In Boston an argument between a colonist and a soldier broke out. Soon there was an angry mob of colonists and more British soldiers. The colonists were throwing things and yelling at the soldiers. One soldier fired into the mob and a few more follow his lead. Five colonists were shot and killed. The British army had fired upon and killed British colonists. The colonist became more angry with the British.

    The British were only taxing tea and sugar. The British owned British East India tea company didn't have to pay any of the taxes. The colonists didn't want to buy the British product. An anrgy group of townspeople meet and planned the Boston Tea party. The townspeople dress as Native Americans and got onto three British East India ships. They dumpest 343 chests of tea overboard into the Boston Harbor.
  • Battle of Lexington and Concord

    Battle of Lexington and Concord
    The British were marching to Concord to destroy a stash of illegal weapons. They were also planning to arrest Samuel Adams and John Hancock. Some rebels heard this and the people were warned of the redcoats' plan. At Lexington 70 minutemen were blocking the armies path. After a few shots the minutemen retreated. The weapons were hidden and John and Samuel were gone by the time the British got to Concord. On the way back to Boston colonists hid and shot at, and killed 73 of the soldiers.

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    They colonists had control over a hill overlokking Boston Harbor. They built a fort on that hill. From the fort they could attack the British ships. The Redcoats needed control over the fort. It took three attempts for the British to take over the fort. Although the British won because they acheived their goal, they lost many more soldiers, than the Rebels.

    The Declaration of Independence was written and signed by the Second Continental Congress. It stated that they didn't want to be under British rule. The document was then sent to the king. After receiving the document the king declared war. By signing the Declaration of Independence the congress was commiting treason and could have been punished by death.

    The British were trying to take over New York. The Partiots were trying to keep control over Long Island and Mannhattan. The Patriot army was driven out of New York by the British.
  • Battle of Trenton

    The Continital army needed to win. George Washinton led his men across the Delaware and into a Hessian camp. The Hessian soldiers were still sleeping after celebrating Christmas. The continental army took 900 Hessian soldiers as prisoners.
  • Battle of Princeton

    Battle of Princeton
    The battle of Princeton happened about a week after the battle of Trenton. The British were doing very well and the continital army began to retreat. At that time George Washington rode into the battle and ordered his soldiers to stay and fight. The British ended up surrendering.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    British officer, William Howe made a plan to cut New England off from the rest of the colonies. During the Battle of Saratoga that plan was ruined. John Burgoyne surrendered to the Americans. This battle proved to the French that the Contintal army had a chance, to win, if they had a little help.
  • Valley Forge

    Valley Forge was a Continental army camp. 11,000 soldiers under George Washington stayed there during a very harsh winter. The soldiers were put through training with Friedrich Von Steuben, a german commander. By the end of the winter the men could fight like soldiers.
  • Battle of Yorktown

    The British under Cornwallis were staying in Yorktown. The Continental army and the French surronded them on land. The French navy keep the redcoats from escaping by sea. The British were forced to surrender because they were short on resources. This battle was the last fought in the Revolutionary war. It led to the Treaty of Paris.

    Treaty of Paris 1783
    The Treaty of Paris officially ended the end of the Revolutionary War. It recognized the United States as an independent nation. The treaty also set the new borders for the Unitied States. The borders were Canada in the north, Florida in the south, the Atlantic Ocean in the east, and the Mississippi in the west.
