Newton decided to leave Cambridge to take up a government position in London, becoming Warden of the Royal Mint in 1696 and Master in 1699 which made him a very rich man. But, he did not resign his positions at Cambridge until 1701. -
Newton is elected president of the Royal Society
Newton became the president of the Royal Society in 1703 and continued to be until he died in 1727. -
Newton gets knighted
In 1705 Queen Anne knighted Newton. That made Isaac Newton the first scientist to receive knighthood from the Queen. -
Isaac Newton dies
In February 1727 Newton went to London to preside ata meeting of the Royal Society but his health condition made him return to Kensington it was determined he had a kidney stone within a month he became delirious and stayed in that state for a couple of days then on March 31 he died between 1 and 2 in the morning.
