    Leonardo da Vinci, Italy

    Leonardo da Vinci, Italy
Leonardo made plans and designs for human powered flight machine.
  • Joseph and Jacques Montgolfier

    Joseph and Jacques Montgolfier
On this date, human flight was achieved. The Montgolfier hot air balloon flew 8 km across Paris. The balloon had linen bags. The fire beneath the balloon heated the air and inflated it in order for it to fly.
  • Sir George Cayley, England- studies animal flight, designed monoplane glider for human

Sir George Cayley, England- studies animal flight, designed monoplane glider for human
When Cayley was a child, he built and flew model gliders. This influenced him because after 40 years, he made a larger model big enough to varry a small boy several metres from the ground. In 1853, he made the first glider for an adult. There were no records kept so not much is known.
  • Otto Lilienthal, Germany- developed ways to control glider flight

Otto Lilienthal, Germany- developed ways to control glider flight
On a hill, he launched a glider with controlled flight. His glider would look like a typical hangglider that we use today. To be able to control the flight, he would have to adjust his weight. To turn the glider, it would be like turning a corner on a bicycle except in the air.
  • James E. Fraser

    James E. Fraser
First Canadian patent for flying machine.
  • American Wright Flyer 1- first powered flight

American Wright Flyer 1- first powered flight
The Wright Brothers had their own motor will the propeller. Orville and Wilbur Wright were the first people to really fly. THey Flyer 1 had 2 12m wings on both sides of the fusilage. Their first flight lasted 12 seconds with a distance of 36.5m.
  • Black Brant Rocket

    Black Brant Rocket
First Canadian-made rocket launchedmto conduct low altitude research.
  • Gossamer series of human-powered aircraft

    Gossamer series of human-powered aircraft
Paul MacCready, United States made a plane with a wingspan of 29m and mass of 32 kg.He made it by using balsa wood, cardboard, Mylar plastic and piano wire. The plane was powered by a single pedal driven propeller which could be steered by twisting the wing tips. The aircraft was called the Gossamer Condor which flew the 1.6km figure-8 route at an altitude of 3m with the speed of 10km/h for the first time. The next year, the Gossamer Albatross was invented and flew the English channel.
  • Dr.Marc Garneau

    Dr.Marc Garneau
He was the first Canadian in space.
  • Marcus Gibson

    Marcus Gibson
Marcus Gubson invents a environment friendly design for a plane.
  • Frederick Hampson

    Frederick Hampson
On this date Frederick is the first person to go out of the solar system.
  • The Black Ops

    The Black Ops
The Black Ops is separated into 5 different spaceships outside of the galaxy to get information.
