    Vasco De Gama sets sail for India
    In 1497 Vasco De Gama starts his journey for new goods. when he finally got there in 1498 he was amazed by all the different goods like spices, silks, and gems. In 1499 he headed back home to Portugal, all the things he got were worth 60 times more than the cost of his journey.

    Aurangzeb was'nt a very good king and he let over 2 million people die of famine. His sons fought a war to see who would become the next king. In 1661 Aurangzeb had given the Mughal emperors to the port of Bombay.

    They went to Delhi and captured it, Indian Soldiers who were stationed in Delhi joined them. This spread to Northern and Central India, all this was called the Srpoy Mutiny. There was alot of fighting between the Indians and the British. This ended a year later when the British recieved more help, and when the Indians split up due to religous beliefs.

    It was an orginization to protect Muslims interest, it was in competiotion withh Congress Party. The leader of this group was Muhammad Ali Jinnah, he insisted that the Muslims should remove themselves from the Congress Party.

  • Amristar Massacre

    Amristar Massacre
    About 10,000 Hindus and Muslims went to Amristar to protest against the Rowlatt Acts. They wanted to fast, pray,and listen to political speeches. The british commander thought they were intentionally breaking a law, so he ordered his soldiers to shoot at the crowd. It lasted ten minutes, 400 Indians died and 1,200 were wounded.

    The Congress party supported the deliberate and public refusal to follow an unjust law. When Gandhi casted his law, he was trying to weaken the British governments authority over India.

    Gandhi planned a march to show that the salt acts were not fair. Gandhi and his followers had walked 240 miles to seacoast, there they had begun to make their very own salt. Police officers had attacked the followers with steel- tipped clubs. Through the pain they still marched and 60,000 people were arrested, including Gandhi.

    More than 5,000 people died and more than 15,000 people died because of the fighting in Calcutta. British officials thought a first idea made by the Muslims was the only way to assure a safe ad secure region.

    The Partition in 1947 was that, the British colony of India could divide into two nations of India and Pakistan.
  • Government Of India Act

    The British House of Commons passed and act which allowed India and Pakistans independence in one month. In that short month 500 independent native princes had to choose wich nation they would join. Millions of other people had to decide where to go, like Hindus and Muslims.

    There was an act passed saying that India and Pakistan could have their independence in one month.

    Gandhi went to Delhi to plead for fair treatment of Muslim refugees. There a Hindu extremist thought that Gandhi was to protective of Muslims, and so he shot and killed him.
