Missouri Compromise
There were 10 slave states and 10 free states. Then Maine decided to join as a free state. That meant that there were now 11 free states and 10 slave states. The free states had more than the slave states. Then Missouri thought that it wasn't fair so they joined as a slave state which made it even. -
Nat Turner's Rebellion
Nat Turner and some other slaves went around and killed lots of white people. The slaves were doing that because North did not alllow slavrey and the South loved it and the slaves were mad that they couldn't be free people. Nat Turner and the other's solution to that problem would be to kill lots of the white people to stop slavery from going on forever. -
Compromise of 1850
The North did not like that the South was being so cruel to African-Americans. The South loved having slaves to thier work for them. Then Senator Heny Clay proposed a compromise -
Kansas-Nebraska Act
The Kansas-Nebraska Act was proposed by Stephan A. Douglas because of all of the slavery going on in the states. It was signed by President Franklin Pierce. That made two territories. In the North, Nebraska Territory. In the South there was the Kansas Territory. -
Dred Scott Descision
Dred Scott wanted to be a free black so he moved to Missouri which was a free state but he was sued for his freedom -
Election of 1860
The four people who wanted to be the President- Abraham Lincoln, John Bell, Stephan A. Douglas, John C. Breckinridge- got votes from the people of the U.S.A. and Abraham Lincoln won the election and got to be the president. -
Secession
South Carolina made its Declaration of Independence. Soon after that, some othe states such as Georgia, Mississippi, Texas and North Carolina decided to join in. Then even more like Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, Alabama and Virginia.
