La fería de abril
1847 fair started It was started by two councilors. Originally started as a livestock fair. They celebrate it because Queen Isabel II said yes to proposal. Then on April 18th the first on was held. It first place held was on the outskirts of the city. The men wear tight pants with a short jacket and boots. They also wear a hat called a cordobés. The woman that go wear a trajes de flamenca A.K.A a flamenco style dress. Continued on next section. -

Moros y Cristianos
Moros y Cristianos begens on April 21 first and goes to the 24 of april. this holiday is in celebration of when St George defeated the morrish troops, that were lead by Al Azraq, in one of the province of Alicante. continued in next section. -
Moros y Cristianos continued
to celebrate the city of Alcoy has 28 mock armys with there own band go around and have mock fights for the four day celabration. they also decorate the balconys with flags of Saint George. fire works are often included in the celebration. they arent sure when people started celibrate this holiday. -
Castellers de Vilafranca
this holiday takes place through out the whole summer not just on the day listed. Castellers de Vilafranca was made in Sept. 1948 founded by Oriol Rossell. It is where they build human towers. They made this because of the growing interest in building human towers and they find it fun. The group Castellers de Vilafranca of about 400 members is who run this holiday and participates. They let anyone join their group. Any age or belief. this holiday happens all through out europe.
