in 1820 the fight between pro-slavery vs anti- slavery reached its max. So they decided to make an imaginary line splitting slave states vs non slave states. so that meant that plantation owners could keep their slaves only in like Florida,Texas ,Mississippi ,Alabama,North Carolina, and Tennessee. -
Wilmot proviso
Eliminate slavery within the land which was because of the Mexican war. It helped the cause of ending slavery. President James Polk sent two million dollars as part of a bill to negotiate the terms of a treaty. -
