    Conquering a mongol city

    In 1355 Zhu Yuanzhang created an army and defeated the Mongol city of Nanjing. This is significant because if Zhu would have never conquered the mongol city the the Ming dynasty would have never been created. Page 384 in our history book.
  • Jan 1, 1368

    Creating the Ming Dynasty

    In 1368 Zhu defeated the Mongols and his Chinese enemies in the south and then he headed north to finish off the last Mongol emperor. Then he created the Ming dynasty. This is significant because if he wouldn't have drove out all of his enemies then the Ming dynasty would most likely not have lasted as long as it did. Page 284 in our history book.

    More Food and People

    In the late 1300's there was more roads and waterways being fixed to help transport items easier. There was also more land being prepared for farming. With better passageways and more farming land there was more jobs and more food which increased the population. This is significant because without more people there would not have been a lot of people to protect the emperor. Page 385 in our history book.

    Time For Exploration

    In the early 1400's the Muslim explorer, Zheng He, took seven journeys all over Asia. Through Vietnam, present day Indonesia, and around india. They also explored the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, down the coast of africa, and even traded with the Arabs. This is significant because it allowed the chinese to get different products that they never had. Page 387 in our history book.

    Burning Maps

    When Zheng returned from his trip there was a new emperor that wanted China to be closed off. The emperor burned all of Zheng's maps. This is important because the Emperor destroyed a lot of knowledge that China could have used to get more products from many different places.

    The Great Wall of China

    In the 1400's many parts of the Great Wall were falling apart. When enemies attacked again the Ming decided to fix the walls to make a long, continuous barrier against attacks. This is significant because without fixing the great wall then the Chinese could have been under many attacks and could have potentially been conquered. Page 389 in our history book.
  • The End of The Ming Dynasty

    In 1644 peasants took over Beijing, Japanese pirates were raiding chinese cities, the Manchu were attacking from the north and the Ming emperor hung himself. Then his best general took over and asked the Manchu invaders for help and the Manchu agreed but they took over China and began the Quin Dynasty.
