Lincoln approves the 13th amendment. This frees all of the slaves in the U.S.. It was the result of the north winning the war. This freed an estimated 800,000 people. -
Death
Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. Booth shot Lincoln in Fords theater with a pistol. This was during a live play. One day later he died. When he died his term was not finished -

After the north had wan the civil war reconstruction had to begin. Lincoln was the head of this movement. As the president of the now united U.S. he began a reconstruction plan.
