She is doing actual farm work for the first time such as mending her fence, baking an apple pie, and making her first stall, This is the point in the story were she starts to mature. -
When Ada finds Sally Swanger in the fence
Ada and Ruby come to find later that Esco and his sons were killed by the homegaurd and that Sally was tourchered. This shows how war can make people evil. -
Ada gives Ruby a bracelet
This shows that Ruby and Ada hace finally become equals. -
Ada shoots her first turkey
