    Pedro Alvares Cabral- arrive to Brazil
    Pedro Álvaro Cabral reached the Brazilian coast on April 22nd, 1500. Cabral crossed the Atlantic and found Brazil on accident. The expedition was in route to India, but due to winds, they headed southwest of Africa they ended up in Brazil.

    The independence of Brazil comprised a series of political events, most involved differences between Brazil and Portugal regarding the demand for independence presented by the Brazilian Empire. On September 7th, 1822, Prince Dom Pedro declared Brazil’s independence for Portugal. A formal recognition came with a treaty signed by Brazil and Portugal in late 1825.

    Brazilia wasbuilt from 1958 to 1960, to encouage teh development of the interior of Brazil. The capitol being in Rio de Janeiro was overcrowded and too far from many parts of the country, so the government moved the capital to Brasilia.
