Robert E Lee is ordered to respond to Harpers Ferry raids. This led to the civil war because Once the responding attack happened then there was a responding attack to that and everything escalated very fast. -
John Brown Trial
John Brown trial for killing 5 whitemen. This led to the civil war because it was the first time the slaves stood up for themselves and at this point, they were fed up with being treated like property and John Brown was a key leader. -

John Brown was executed for his actions in killing whitemen. This led to the Civil war because the slaves became extremely angry. -
Lincoln Elected
Lincoln being elected president changed many things. Lincoln, a republican, wanted the slaves to be free. He got what he wanted and abolished slavery. This led to Lincoln being assasinated and there being a huge uproar and the civil war. All after Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
