Magna Carta
The Magna carta was a peace treaty between King John and his subjects. It was a treaty that promised that the king would govern England and deal with its people according to the customs of feudal law. It was an attempt to keep King John from abusing his power. -
Jamestown
About 100 members of the Virginia London Company founded the first permanent colony on the bank of James River, the captin, Jonh Smith. But the colony began to fail in the first two years due to disease. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre occured on King Street where British Army soilders killed five civillians and injured six others. It all happened when a group of Patriots began to taunt and some say, throw objects, at the British soilders who were protecting the Custon House. The soilders called for back up. When the back up came, the Patriots kept taunting the soilders, and eventually they shot back. The first casualty in the American Revolution was Crispus Attucks, a runaway slave.Paul Revere engraved it. -
Lexington & Concord
This battle, which took place in Middlesex, Province of Massachusetts, was the first battle of the American revolution. it was between the Continental Army and the Redcoats. The Continental Army won and really kicked off the American Revolution. -
Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence is when the 13 colonies declared their independence from Great Britain. This happened after the Continental Army won their last battle. The main author who wrote this historic document was Thomas Jefferson. -
Trail of Tears
The Trail of Tears is when the American Indians were forced to leave their homes and go to an area west of the Mississippi River, which later became Ohklahoma. These Native Americans were forced to move by law of the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Around 2,000-6,000 Indians died from diseases, starvation, and exposure. -
Dred Scott Decision
Dred Scott was a slave who was taken by his slave owner to live Illinois then Wisconsin, both free. He sued for his freedom, but the law said otherwise. It said that slaves were property and were't considered citizens. The north was angry at the ruling, but the south cheered on. -
Civil War
The Civil War was a war between the north and the south. It was primarily fueled by wether or not slavery should be legal. It was one of the most bloodiest wars in American History. The north was led by President Lincoln and the south was led by President Davis. The commander of the north was Ulysses Grant, and the south by Robert Lee. The result was a north victory!!! -
Emancipation Proclamation
The Emancipation Proclamation was a document that was drafted during the Civil War. It said that all slaves were free if they escaped to the north. The abolitionist were overjoyed at the great news President Lincoln had bestowed upon them.
