  • Homestead Act

    This act made it easier for citizens to own land. They were given a few acres for free or for an extremely low price.
  • 13th Amendment

    This amendment abolished the practice of slavery and involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for a crime.
  • 14th Amendment Passed

    Gives equal rights to all anyone living in America. This included people who were formerly slaves.
  • 15th Amendment Passed

    15th Amendment Passed
    The 14th Amendment was passed in July of 1868. The amendment had guaranteed the right for all men to vote, no matter what color they were. But this excluded women unfortunately.
  • The Enforcement Acts

    These laws/acts to get a handle on KKK crimes. But these laws weren't enforced so their crimes continued on.
  • Dawes Act

    This act was created in hopes for the Indians to assimilate themselves into American culture. This unfortunately failed because some Indians thought that they would lose their culture and traditions.
