  • Boston Massacre

    The Boston Massacre began when British soldiers opened fire and killed five American colonist. It was originally supposed to be a protest, but things ended up getting violent. Colonies ended up getting together and going against the British.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party began when colonist on a ship decided to throw the tea overboard into the harbor. This occurred because they were angered that they were taxed without any representation. They did not respond well because more policies were enforced.
  • Boston Port Act

    The Boston Port Act declared that colonist pay the money that was lost when the tea was thrown into the harbor. In today's money, that would be almost one million dollars. This act was to punish them, so they closed the port of Boston. This angered many colonist because they were all being punished and they were all being forced to pay, even though many of them didn't take part in the incident.
  • Coercive Act

    The Coercive Act was a series of laws that were set to punish the Massachusetts Bay Colony. The series that were included were: shutting down the Boston port, refusing to give the colony of Quebec any representation, and do something about the Quartering act. This also angered the colonist because they believed that too many harsh rules were being enforced.
