    The Talks of Removing Slavery

    During the Civil War, the Radical Republican leaders argued that slavery and the Slave Power had to be permanently destroyed, and that all forms of Confederate nationalism had to be suppressed. Moderates said this could be easily accomplished as soon as Confederate armies surrendered and the Southern states repealed secession and accepted the 13th Amendment most of which happened by December 1865.

The southern states did not want Lincoln to win the 1860 election because Lincoln was a republican and republican party opposed slavery Lincoln never said he wanted to end slavery.

A couple of soldiers went to her house and found out she wasn't mourning over Lincoln's death so they told her to display mourning or there will be consequences and she said Abraham Lincoln was the reason her husband and her kid are dead she will not mourn so they went in her house and found Widows Weeds and the dress and vail she used to bury her family.

    On July 28, 1868, the 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution was ratified. The amendment grants citizenship to "all persons born or naturalized in the United States" which included former slaves who had just been freed after the Civil War.

United States Constitution prohibits the federal and state governments from denying a citizen the right to vote based on that citizen's "race, color, or previous condition of servitude".
