  • Lexington and Concord

    Lexington and Concord
    This battle was the first military engagement of the Revolutnary War. The British wanted to capture the rebels military supplies. When the Britsih attacked Paul Revere warned the rebels, and the rebels responded by moving most of their supplies and gathering their troops. When the British began the attack they first pushed through Lexington, but when they got to Concord they were forced to tactically retreat. The Britsh army was under Genral Colonel Smith and the Rebels were under William Davis.
  • Bunker (Breed's) Hill

    Bunker (Breed's) Hill
    William Prescott led 1,200 American soldiers into battle to gain control of the hill. However the British troops forced them to retreat and they gained control oof the hill. Although it was techinacally a Colonial defeat, they had injured so many British Troops that the British did not try such a bold seige again, and the Americans were giving encouragement bacuse they just confirmed that these rebels could stand up to ordinary trained soldiers.
  • Trenton / Princeton

    Trenton / Princeton
    These two seprate, but related battles are considered to be the first successes won by Washington on the open battlefeild. Both battles are largely important for many reasons, but one of the biggest reasons is that they both gave the rebels a large moral boost and gave them confidence on taking on Great Britian.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    Fort Ticonderoga
    General John Burgoyne's had 8,000 men surround the fort. The Rebels had only 3,000 under the command of General Arthur St. Clair. Some gunfire was exchanged, and there were some casualties, but there was no formal siege and no pitched battle. The Americans had surrendered without much of a fightbecause they were so undermanned.
  • Saratoga

    Saratoga
    John Burgoyne led a British army to invade New York, when they got there they got surrounded and the back up didn't arrive. They tried to break out of the trap in two seperate battles 18 days apart. Both attempts failed resulting in the Victory of the rebels.
  • Siege of Charleston

    Siege of Charleston
    This battle was one of the last major battles of the Revolutanry War. The British attackedthe Fort and after a few weeks of seige General Benjamin Lincoln was forced to surrender over 5,000 troops. This was one of the biggest losses for the rebels.
  • King's Mountain

    King's Mountain
    British Troops threatened the rebels andtold them to surrender, the rebels responded by launching an attack on British Major Patrick Ferguson. The were caused to retreat and Ferguson was kiled. When the Britis troop relizied Ferguson had died they quickly surrendered after suffering massive causulties.
  • Yorktown

    Yorktown
    The French and American forces attacked New York city under the command of General George Washington. The attack was a success and was the last major battle of the war. When Britian recieved word of its massive causilties they decided to negioate an ending to the conflict, resulting in the victory for the rebels.
