the battles were significant because they were the first 2 battles of the war. they were hoping to catch Sam Adams and John Hancock.Paul Revere went around on horseback and yelled to the colonist. Battle of Fort Ticonderoga
The colonist captured the fort on May 10 1775. The militia name who helped take the fort was the green-Mountain boys. The leader of the militia was Ethan Allen and Benedict Arnold. The colonist got artillery cannons from the fort which helps during siege of boston later.

battle of bunker hill
This battle took place the same year as lexington ad concord just 2 months later. It took 3 charges up the hill for the to colonist retreat . George Washington took command of the army on june 2 1775. The casualties for the british were 1,054 troops injured or killed. 115 colonist were killed and 305 injured. Battle of Trenton
Georgia Washington lead this battle. They crossed the icy Delaware river. The secret attack happened on january 3. The battles were wins for the colonist as they took supplies and prisoners. This majorly boosted the moral of the colonist because they were major wins for the colonists.

Battle of Saratoga
The battle took place on Saratoga on the Hudson river. The results were a win or the colonists who forced a surrender out of the British. This gave confidence to the french to join the war as a ally to the colonist. General Horatio Gates and Brigadier Benedict Arnold lead the colonists. Battle of Yorktown
This battle was basically the end of the war for independence for the colonist. Cornwallis surrender to Washington at the end of the battle. The french helped the colonist win by using their navy to block the bay and some french troops to stop them leaving by land. The battle of Yorktown ended with the British surrendering the the colonists.
