    French and Indian War

    Without this war, the American Revolution never would have happened. This war was fought by Britain to protect the colonies from France, and after the war left Britian in debt, they taxxed the colonists to pay it off, which started the American revolution.

    This event was important because it was the first tax that Britain imposed on the colonists. This taxed anything printed by requiring that it had a stamp from Britain that costed money to print it.

    The Townshend Acts were a sieres of Acts that taxed goods imported to the colonies. The colonists saw these acts as unfair, since they had no representation in British congress,

    The Boston Massacre was a mass homocide by British soldiers that happened when an angry mob of civilians started harrasing them. The British opened fire and killed five people.
  • Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party was a famous event when a group of colonists dressed up as Mohawk Indians and threw 10,000 £ worth of tea into a harbour. This event was important because it was an Act of Colonial resistance which would lead to not only the Boston Port Act but other intolerable acts.

    The Boston Port Act was an act passed by British Parliament that shut down the Boston Port and demand that the colonist paid 10,000 pounds to the British in exchange for the tea dumped into the harbour during the Boston Tea Party. This act, like the other intolerable acts, gathered Colonial resistance and eventually would lead to the American Revolution and the downfall of the British.
  • The Administration Of Justice Act

    This act was made in 1774 in order to assert authority over the colonies. This act allowed British soldiers accused of murder and other crimes to have trails in England, where they would be aqquited of their crimes. This act, like the other intolerable acts, gathered Colonial resistance and eventually would lead to the American Revolution and the downfall of the British.

    The purpose of this act was for Britain to assert dominance over Massachusets. This act gave the royaly appointed governer more power and stopped the people from calling town meetings.     The Quartering act required colonies to provide shelter for British Soldiers, often in the Colonists own Businesses or houses. The colonist saw this act as unfair because the colonists had no say in this. This act, like the other intolerable acts, gathered Colonial resistance and eventually would lead to the American Revolution and the downfall of the British.

    The First Continental Congress was a meeting of representatives from all of the colonies except for Georgia in response to the Intolerable Acts. This event was important because it established that the colonists wanted independence from Britain.
  • The Battle of Lexington

    The Battle of Lexington happened when the governor of Massachusets ordered British troops to seize colonists' military storehouses. Colonist militias fought back, and the British lost 273 soldiers and the colonists lost 95. This event was important because it convinced 16,000 colonists to fight for America in the Revolutionary War.

    This speech by Patrick Henry was important because it convinced colonists that war was inevitable and that they must fight for their rights.
  • Battle Of Concord

    This Battle happened right after the battle of Lexington. This battle was important because, like Lexington, it inspired 16,000 colonists to fight for America's side in the war.
  • The Battle Of Bunker Hill

    The Battle Of Bunker Hill was a battle that was fought when 200 American troops commandeered a hill near Boston. In response to this, Britain sent 2,300 troops to take the hill. Then, the colonists send many thousands more troops to battle the British. The colonists won the battle, with their casualties being 450n compared to the Redcoats' 1054.

    The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson and signed on July 4th, 1776. This was important because it started the United States Of America.
  • Battle Of Saragota

    The battle of Saratoga was when a group of the British under general Burgoyne were defeated by the colonists. This was important because, for many colonists, it marked a turning point in the war.
  • France and America Form an Alliance

    France and America formed an alliance against the British in 1778, America in order to gain independence, and France in order to undermine the British. This singlehandedly turned the war and gave America the power to defeat the British.
  • Siege of Yorktown

    On March 15, Lord Cornwallis entered Yorktown and set up base there. In response to this, George Washington's army placed Yorktown under siege and Cornwallis surrendered his army of more than 7000 men. This was important because it was a huge victory for the colonists.

    The treaty of Paris was signed in 1783. This treaty was important because it ended the war with Britain.
