  • Lexington and Concord

    -Patriots: John Parker, James Barrett, John Buttrick, Will Heath, Joe Warren, Isaac Davis
    -Redcoats: Francis Smith, John Pitcairn, Hugh Percy
    -Strategic Importance: British went to Lexington to seize rebel militia supplies. Minutemen knew about expedition days before and moved the supplies and attacked the British.
  • Fort Ticonderoga

    -Patriots: Ethan Allen, Ben Arnold
    -Redcoats: William Delaplace
    -Strategic Importance: Green Mountain Boys overcame British fort and caused them to surrender. The patriots also acquired all the British supplies at the fort.
  • Bunker Hill

    -Patriots: Israel Putnam, Will Prescott, John Stark
    -Redcoats: William Howe
    -Strategic Importance: British won battle but sufffered major losses. Colonist militia gained confidence against formal army.
  • Trenton/ Princeton (NJ Campaign)

    -Patriots: George Washington, Hugh Mercer
    -Redcoats: Charles Mawhood, Charles Cornwallis
    -Stragetic Importance: Continental Army held off British attack at Trenton then won against British at Princeton
  • Saratoga

    -Patriots: Horatio Gates, Benedict Arnold, Ben Lincoln, Enonch Poor
    -Redcoats: John Burgoyne, Simon Fraser
    -Strategic Importance: Americans surround British army (who was expecting reinforcements that came), cause them to surrender, and win a decisive battle.
  • Seige of Charleston

    -Patriots: Ben Lincoln
    -Redcoats: Charles Cornwallis
    -Strategic Importance: Southern Continental Army surrenders 5,000 men to British.
