    Known as the Incident On King St by the British. The Boston Massacre was the first time British regulars engaged in open fire into a colonist crowd. This was what inspired the Declaration of Independence.

    The Declaration of Independence
    Although some Historians say the Boston Massacre was the starting point of the war. The official starting point was the Declaration of Independence. Published in July 4 1776 it was read aloud throughout the thirteen colonies. The authors were Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Roger Sherman and Robert R. Livingston.   • Battles of Saratoga

    British General Burgoyne had won a small battle against the Americans. The battle was full of casualties of war. It was a moral victory for the Americans. The second battle Burgoyne led a huge army down to Saratoga were Americans overwhelmed him he had to surrender. This marked the turning point of the war. Americans had gotten the support of other European countries such as France ( still bitter from the F&I War).

    The battle of Monmouth took place in Monmouth, New Jersey. General Washington attacked the British who were commanded by Lieutenant General Sir Henry Clinton. As they left Monmouth Courthouse it is also called Battle of Monmouth Courthouse. It is not sure who won this battle.
