  • Jackson's birth

    Jackson was born to parents Andrew and Elizabeth Hutchinson Jackson. Although the exact location is unknown, his birthplace is supposed to have been at one of his uncles' houses' in the Waxhaws region that join North Carolina and South Carolina.
  • Battle of Horseshoe Bend

    This battle was fought during the War of 1812 in Alabama. On March 27, 1814, United States forces and Indian allies under Major General Andrew Jackson defeated the Red Sticks, a part of the Creek Indian tribe. This soon ended the Creek War.
  • Battle of New Orleans

    This battle was the final major battle of the War of 1812. The American forces were commanded by General Andrew Jackson. Jackson's leadership skills led to the victory of this battle for the Americans.
  • Election of 1824

    The Election of 1824 was between John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson. The situation went to the House of Representatives to decide. Adams won the election.
  • Election of 1828

    In the Election of 1828 John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson were against each other. In the previous election, John Q. Adams won. This time, Jackson became the 7th president of the United States.
  • Nullification Crisis

    It all begins. The Tariff of 1828 was a protective tariff, an act to protect U.S industry by taxing foreign goods. The Tariff Southern planters got mad because they relied on trade with Europe. They called it the "Tariff of Abominations" because they disliked it. John Calhoun, vice president from South Carolina, believed in states' rights. South Carolina declared the tariff illegal by passing the Nullification Act. Then Congress passes the Tariff Act of 1833, ending the Nullification Crisis.
  • Indian Removal Act

    This Act gave president Andrew Jackson the power to move Native Americans west of the Mississippi. This resulted in the Trail of Tears. The Trail of Tears was named because of the difficult conditions and forced removal of the Indians.
  • Worcester v. Georgia

    Worcester claimed that his family’s forced removal was a violation of his constitutional rights. He believed the state of Georgia over-stepped their boundaries. Worcester v. Georgia was decided on March 3rd of 1832 by the United States Supreme Court. Worcester won, and Georgia's actions were declared unconstitutional.
  • Bank War

    The Bank War was the name given to the campaign begun by President Andrew Jackson in 1833 to destroy the Second Bank of the United States. Andrew Jackson strongly opposed the U.S Bank in fear of the Bank becoming too powerful. In 1832 Senator Henry Clay, proposed rechartering the Bank early. This bill passed Congress, but Jackson vetoed it. He did not like the idea of a National Bank and wanted to shut it down.
