    1948 War
    Israel declared independence. Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, & Raq attacked Israel. Israel gained land. Egypt the Gaza Strip and Jordan gained the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and Jews became refugees.
  • Six Day War or the 1967 War

    Six Day War or the 1967 War
    Egyp blockaded Israel. Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq moved troops to Israel's borders and made threatening statements. Israel launched a preemptive strike. Israel captured the Wst Bank and East Jerusalem from Jordan, The Golan Heights from Syria, and the Gaza strip and all of the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt. More Palestinians and Jews became refugees. Terrorism became more common.
  • Settlement Construction Begins

    Settlement Construction Begins
    Construction of settlements in Sainai, Gaza, and the West Bank was approved and the construction was started. This added settlements to those areas and This made travel for Palestinians in the West Bank harder because of it grew the populations of Jews in the West Bank as well as Israeli military moving to the West Bank.
  • Attrition Battles

    Israel wanted to give the Arabs land in return for peace but the Arabs denied the offer. Instead, they repeatedly attacked Israel. This ended in 1970. The Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) Was fought and pushed out of Jordan. They moved their base of operations to Lebanon.
  • The October war or Yom Kippur war

    The October war or Yom Kippur war
    Egypt and Syria attacked Israel on their holiest day, Yom Kipur. Israel chased them out of of Israeli land and the U.S. convinced Israel not to launch a counter attack. This ended 19 days later on October 25th. This reinforced Israel's buffer zone that they gained in 1967. A buffer zone is a zone between two or more areas.
  • Egypt and Israel sign a peace agreement

    Egypt and Israel sign a peace agreement
    The U.S. hosted this event in which Egypt decided to recognize Israel as a country and in return Israel gave Sinai back to Egypt. This was the first peace treaty between Israel and an Arab country. The Israeli government made Jews leave Sinai and Egypt's economy was strengthened because they no longer wasted their money on war with Israel.
  • The 1982 Lebanon War

    The 1982 Lebanon War
    The PLO attacked northern Israel. Israel fired back by attacking the PLO's militant station in Lebanon creating an Israeli buffer zone. This war ended in June of 1985. Israel is less likely to be attacked from the North from then on and it almost pulled Israel into a major Lebanese civil war.

    Palestinians had an uprising in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank against the Israeli government. Israel used military force to stop the uprising. This ended six years later on September 13th of 1993. This war resulted in many Israelis and Palestinians deaths. This included militants and civilians. This resulted in over 1,500 deaths.
  • The Oslo Accords

    The Oslo Accords
    The Oslo Accord was a set of agreements between Israel and Palestine where they recognized each other. The PLO renounced terrorism and believed Palestine and Israel could live in peace. Israel gave the Palestinians authority and governing rights in the Gaza Strip and West Bank. Noth sides accuse each other of not fulfilling their obligations and they still fight to this day.

    The U.S. encouraged Israel and Jordan to sign a peace treaty to recognize each other as a county. This opened up trade, buisness relations, tourism, and many more things between the two countries.

    President Clinton attempted to work out peace between the Palistinians and the Israelis. The United States' attempt of making peace between the two is still ongoing. The Israelis wanted this to workout but the Palestinians rejected the offer.

    The Israeli General Arial Sharon showed up at the Jewish mounted which is revered by the Jews and the Muslim as a religious site. Since the Muslims were frustrated by no progress they began to riot and fight the Jews. Hundreds of civillians and militants were killed in this violence and there was constant violence

    After constant Palestinian Suicide bombings the Israelis began to build a giant, strong protective wall on their border to keep their citizens safer. This wall and the one by the Gaza strip have dramtically declined the amount of suicide bombings but some workers that have to constantly cross the border complain that the wall slows the process down due to securtiy checks

    The Arab-Israeli Peace Initiative is Proposed
    This was a peace deal that was created by the ruler of Saudi Arabia and was agreed on by all the members ofthe Arab League. The treaty states that israeli gives back all the territories taken in the 1967 war, recognized the independent state of Palestine and shared East Jerusalem with Palestine as a capital and in return they get peace from all of the Arab Nations. Israel welcomed the proposal but did not agree with everything that was said on the proposal. They continue to try to get peace
  • The Road Map for Peace is proposed

    The Road Map for Peace is proposed
    This was a plan that was made by the United States, Russia, The Europian Union and the United Nations to finally make peace between the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The roadmap has had little progress so far but it is ongoing and these nations are still trying to enforce the roadmap and make the ideas in it a reality

    This was the Israeli seperation from Palestinian territories. Israeli citizens left the Gaza strip and the west bank so the people there could rule themselves. The Palestinian people set up there own governments to rule themselves and live the way they wanted to

    The Hamas were elceted instead of the PLO Fatah and they are commited to killing Jews and destroying the country of Israel. Many terrorist attacks took place because of the corrupt government until they were dissolved in 2007

    Hezbollah went over the Lebanon- Israeli border on July 11th and attacked an Israeli unit. They killed 8 people, captured two more and then later killed them. They also shot rockets into Israel at the sametime Israel responded with rockets on suspected Hezbollah's who they thought attacked them in the first place

    Since there was tension between the Fatah and the Hamas, the Hamas military attacked many Fatah mebers in Gaza. As a result of these attacks, Palestines president ended the Hamas government and stopped their attacks on the Fatah

    Israel attacked Hamas targets in Gaza to stop often attacks on southern Israel, Terrorist Infastructure and weapon smuggling across the Israeli border. Many militants were killed in this war and because much of this war took place in urban areas there were also many civillian casulties. It ended on January 18th 2009

    Israel and Eqypt teamed up to blockade the the Gaza and inspect any goods entering or leaving the area. It was deemed legal by the United Nations. In this process innocent Turkish people were killed and Turkish activasts were killed. This weakened the alliance between Israel and Turkey and violence came out of this with Israel and the surrounding nations.

    The citizens of the Arab states are outraged and they have been protesting the corrupt governments for the past 4 and a half years. These methods have been effective. Because of the protests and uprisings, the tunisian president fled the country, the Egyptian president resigned and many other governments are yet to see important changes. The people will eventually get the government they want
