    Israel declared independence. Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq attacked Israel. Israel gained land from the war. Egypt gained the Gaza Strip and Jordan gained the West Bank and East Jerusalem. Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and Jews became refugees.

    Six Day War / The 1967 War
    Egypt blockaded Israel. Egypt, Jordan, Syria, and Iraq moved troops to Israel's borders and made threatening statements. Israel launched a preemptive strike. The war caused Israel to capture the West BAnk and East Jerusalem from Jordan, the Golan Heights from Syria, and the Gaza Strip and all of the Sinai Peninsula from Egypts. More Palestinians and Jew became refugees. Terrorism became more common.

    Settlements were illegal, Jewish-only communities in Israel. The settlements were captured by Israek in The War of 1967. Israel built settlements in that area in attempt to make peace. Jordan signed a peace agreement in 1994, but Jewish populations grew by 50% in the territories.

    The Attritioni Battle was a war between Egypt and Israel. Egypt used an artilery company to fire on Israel at the Suez Canal. The war ended in a cease fire. Egypt ended up losing the war. Several people died from the vast bombardments during the war.

    Egyptian and Syrian forces launched an attack against Israel on Yokm Kippur, one of the most biggest Jewish holidays. Israel counterattacked and captured the Golan Heights. At the same time, Jordan lost the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and Egypt lost the Sinnai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip. The war ended in a cease-fire, and a major military defeat for Syira.

    Egypt and Israel Sign a Peace Agreement
    It was a ceremony hosted by president Jimmy Carter. It was when the Israeli prime minister Menachem Begin and the Egyptian president Anwat Sadat signed the agreement. It was the first treaty between Israel and an Arab country. It allowed for the establishments of self rule for the Palestinians living in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, and Israel to withdraw from the Sinai Peninsula. Egypt also became the first Arab country to recognize Israel as an independent state.

    The PLO terrorists moved into Lebanon. This caused thousands of Palestinian refugees to be created and follwed, and the PLO took over Lebanon's governments. The purpose of this war was to destroy the structure of Lebanon.The Israel Defence Force (IDF) launching two large scale attacks on Lebanon. Israel launched several bombings and the war ended with massive casualities.

    This was an uprising against IsraIis from controlling the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. It occurred because the Palestinians were tired of Israeli control over government, social, and political developements, and decided to rebel violently. However Israel striked back with even more force and power resulting in numerous deaths. It resulted in the United Nation Security Council resolution 605 condemming Israel for a large number of Palestinian deaths. Curfews were also established by Israel.
  • The Oslo Accords

    The Oslo Accords
    It was signed by prime minister Yitzhak Robin and PLO negotiator, Muahmous Abbas. This grant was created to forced Israelis and Palestinians to recognize each other; however, it failed due to not recognizing the dispute of Jerusalem and did not promise Palestinans an indepent state. However the Palestinian Authority (PA) was created to govern the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The failure of the Accords caused The Camp David Summit, and it also lead to The Second Intifada.

    Israel and Jordan Sign Peace Treaty
    It was signed in Wadi Arabia. Israel and Jordan agreed to international boundaries, security, freedom of passage and equal rights to water when they signed a peace treaty with each other. This gaurenteed Jordan's restoration of the occupied land and equal share of water from the Karmouk and Jordan RIvers. This also caused the western broders of Jordan to be more defined.

    United States President, Bill Clinton, Ehud Barak who was the Israeli's Prime Minister and Yasser Arafat who was a Palestinean Chairman negotigated the settement of peace between Irael and Palestian. It was the first serious negotiation between the Palestinians and Israel over Jerusalem.The negotiation failed to be successful because of the diverse ideas and the long hatred.

    This was the result of Israel's occupation polices that violated international laws. Israel would launch military offensives and administrative policies to punish the Palestinians whwvener ther did somethign wrong. In addition to this, the average salary of Palestinians was around minimum wage, and much less than the salary of an average Israeli. About 4,973 Palestinians weer killed from the uprisings. The Intifada caused Israel to place restrictions on Palestine and to enforce oppressive siege.

    Arab Peace Initiative is Proposed
    This peace initiative was endorsed by the Arab League which recognized Israel. Israel accepted the treaty. However, it was not as effective until 2007. It called for Israeli withdrawal from Arab territories occupied since 1967, and the establishment of Palestinian State with East Jerusalem as the capital.

    Due to Palestinian bombings and terrorist attacks directed to Isreal, Israel began to built a barrier separating Israel from the West Bank for protection. However, several people are protesting against the wall in other nations. The barrier is expected to reach about 403 miles long with about 25 feet in hieght. The purpose of the barrier has been successful so far reducing the number of attacks by 90%.

    The roadmap sets a series of benchmarks degned to move Israelis and Palestinians, over 3 years to the creation of Palestine state in peace with Israel. It was made by the United States Department.

    This was when Israel planned to dismantle the illegal settlements and military bases in the Gaza Strip. However, the downfall for the Palestinians was hat they were still under control of Israel.

    Hamas was a terrorist group won over by the new Palestinian Parliament. They had no connection with the government because Palestine had no government. They led terrorist attacks on Israel and established extensive social services networks especially in the Gaza Strip.

    It began when the Hezbollah terrorists crossed the border from Lebanon into Israel and attacked the Israeli soldiers on border patrol. Israel launched multiple air strikes in response. The war ended when the United Nations Security Council Resolution called for the imediate end of hostilities. The was also resulted in the deaths of many civilians. Hezbollah disarmed.

    It began when Gaza fell into the control of the Hamas group. It was a battle between the Hamas and Fatah Factions. Israeli forces attacked Hamas's polictocal and militry in Gaza. However, the Hamas ended up winning the battle, and the fighting caused numerous casualities.

    The Flotilla was a ship owned by Gaza that was raided by Israel. Israel not only attacked the ship, but its passangers also. Their goal was to break the naval blackade of the Gaza Strip. As a result from the Flotilla, Turkey withdrew their ambassador from israel, and a rift between the allies of Israel occured.

    These are democratic uprisings that began in Tunisia when a man set himself on fire to protest. It led to the president of Egypt resigning. The main goal was to create a more representative political system, a fairer economy and independence. The Arab Springs have succeeded, but it has put a strain on the local economies.
