    Although many companies tried to top Motorola's "Motorola DynaTAC 8000X". The next big step for the cell phone was the Motorola MicroTAC 9800X. In 1989 while competition were trying to change aspects to the phone to reduce price, Motorola used their time to reduce the size of the mobile phone. The Motorola MicroTAC 9800X was the smallest and lightest mobile phone on the market.

Although these features were impressive it weighed at a whopping 393 grams and came preloaded with only 8MB of internal storage, but because of the idea the people overlooked its flaw.

It was pocket sized at the weight of 136 grams. And gave users a current high of 16 MB.
