    After James K. Polk was elected for President, he proceeded with his advocation of adding Texas, and John Tyler signed the Congressional Resolution to Annexate Texas.

    General Taylor's Army has marched South, and after crossing the Nueces River, they marched onto territory that what was thought by both countries, to be theirs.

    President Polk recieves word from General Taylor, he understands what must be done, and asks Congress to declare war on Mexico.

    The Battle of Palo Alto
    The first Major battle of the Mexican-American War, General Taylor led a 3,000 man force against Mexican General Mariano Arista's 4,000 man troop. After the standoff on the crossroads to Palo Alto, the U.S. won the battle with superior fire power, and accurate weaponary.

    After the immenese battle two days earlier, Mexico City's revolts, and riots were becoming to great to deploy reinforcements. After Mecixo lost the battle of Chapultepec, the US marched in and planted its flag.

    On Feb 2, the negotiators signed the Treaty of Guadelupe Hidalgo, and the treaty is rushed to Washington. After being approved by the US Senate on Mar 10, the Mexican Congress signed it in Mar 25, officialy ending the war.
