    Basketball was created by Dr. James Naismith in December 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts to condition young athletes during the cold.

    Originally there were nine players on the court at one time for one team. So in total there were 18 players total on the court at one time

    There were 13 orignal rules established by James Naismith. Nine of the rules are still used till this day. Some original rules are The ball may be thrown in any direction with one or both hands. The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands. Another one is that the ball must be held in or between the hands, the arms or body must not be used for holding it.
